The Dallas Court of Appeals has two positions open for staff attorneys.
I worked as a briefing attorney for the First Court of Appeals. I had a staff attorney above me but we had similar responsibilities. Each week each of us was assigned a case. We were given the records and the briefing and instructed to write a draft opinion. We then delivered the opinion to the judge.
I learned more about legal writing and appellate advocacy in the time I was a briefing attorney than I did in the entire three years of law school.
